Bernardus Hendrikus Stolte, known as B. H. Stolte or Ben Stolte, was a Dutch ancient historian and classical philologist born on October 25, 1912, in Magelang, Java. He served as a professor at the University of Nijmegen, where he focused on the provincial Roman history and culture of the Lower Rhineland region of Germania Inferior, as well as the early history of the Netherlands. He also self-studied Germanic philologies, including the Gothic language. Stolte passed away on June 19, 1985, in Beek-Ubbergen near Nijmegen.
