Augustín Bačinský was a Slovak Roman Catholic priest who later became a Old Catholic priest and the first archbishop of the Old Catholic Church in Slovakia. Born on October 20, 1949, in Lok, he completed his studies at the Cyril and Methodius Faculty of Theology and was ordained in 1977. Due to his disagreement with mandatory celibacy, he could not continue in the Roman Catholic Church. He married in 1980 and served as an Old Catholic priest, receiving episcopal ordination in 2004. He passed away on January 19, 2021, in Nitra.
