August Sangret was a French-Canadian soldier who was convicted and later executed for the murder of Joan Pearl Wolfe in September 1942. The case, known as the 'Wigwam Murder', was notable for being the first in British legal history to introduce a murder victim's skull as trial evidence. Wolfe was referred to as the 'Wigwam Girl' due to her unique living situation in improvised wigwams prior to her death, which were built by Sangret. He was hanged on 29 April 1943.
