Ásmundur Friðriksson, born on January 21, 1956, in Reykjavík, is an Icelandic politician from the Independence Party. He worked as a project leader for the reconstruction of Heimaey after the Eldfell volcano eruption and was involved in cleanup efforts in 1973. From 1980 to 2003, he was a freelance journalist and held various roles in fish processing on the Vestmannaeyjar Islands. He was mayor of Garður from 2009 to 2012 and has been a member of the Althing since April 27, 2013, representing the Southern constituency.
