Asanka Nawaratne, born on January 9, 1981, is a prominent Sri Lankan politician and the leader of the Sri Lanka People's Party. He formerly served as a provincial councillor and is currently a Member of Parliament after being elected in the 2020 parliamentary election from the Kurunegala District. Although he previously contested the 2015 parliamentary election with the United People's Freedom Alliance, he was not elected. Nawaratne has also been involved with the Kurunegala Divisional Council and the North Western Provincial Council.
