Art Pepper was an American jazz musician, recognized as one of the most notable alto saxophonists and clarinetists. In the 1950s, he was one of the few altoists, alongside Lee Konitz and Paul Desmond, to develop a unique sound despite the significant influence of Charlie Parker. By the time of his death at 56, he achieved his goal of becoming the greatest altoist in the world.
