Árpád Göncz was a significant Hungarian politician born on February 10, 1922, in Budapest. He served as Hungary's first democratically elected president from May 2, 1990, to August 4, 2000, and played a crucial role in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. Göncz was a founding member and vice president of the Alliance of Free Democrats (SZDSZ) and also served as the Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary. He was also a member of the International Advisory Council of the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation.
