Hans Arnfrid Astel was a German lyricist and journalist born on July 9, 1933, in Munich. He became the head of the literature department at Saarländischer Rundfunk in 1967. Originally known simply as Arnfrid Astel, he adopted the first name Hans in 1985 following the suicide of his son. Astel also wrote under the pseudonym Hanns Ramus. He passed away on March 12, 2018, in Trier, leaving behind a legacy in the German literary world.
