Arne Müntzing was a Swedish geneticist notable for his pioneering work in genetics during the 20th century. He completed his doctorate in 1930 under geneticist Herman Nilsson-Ehle and later became a professor at the University of Lund from 1938 to 1968. Müntzing is recognized for his groundbreaking experiments with chromosome doubling in plants, particularly in legumes, and for creating a new plant species through hybridization. His 1953 genetics textbook became a standard reference in Sweden. He was elected to several prestigious scientific societies throughout his career, winning the Darwin Medal in 1959.
