Armando Calcaterra was a Uruguayan paleontologist born on May 15, 1912, in El Chileno, Colonia. Initially working as a radiotechnician in Colonia, he discovered his passion for paleontology, becoming a self-taught researcher. He collaborated with Dr. Bautista Rebuffo in fossil collection during the 1950s and founded the Paleontological Museum that bears his name in 1971. Calcaterra passed away in 1990. His contributions to paleontology are remembered, and a street in Real de San Carlos is named after him.
