Aritsune Mizuno was a contemporary Japanese writer and poet, born on October 24, 1928, in Ōita, Kyūshū, and passed away in 2008. He was a professor at Kyoto University and a disciple of the prominent Japanese Latinist Saburō Takada. Mizuno was noted for his lyrical Latin poetry and is recognized as one of the best Latin poets of the 20th century. His most acclaimed work is his 'Vergilius emendatus,' a reinterpretation of the Aeneid.
