Antonio Sacoto Salamea is an Ecuadorian literary critic, professor, and essayist born on November 30, 1932, in Biblián. He has been a member of the Ecuadorian Academy of Language since 2012 and has served as the director of Latin American studies and dean of the Romance languages faculty at the University of the City of New York. He studied secondary education at Borja School in Cuenca and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of the City of New York in 1962 and 1964, respectively. His research focuses on indigenism in literature.
