Antonio Martínez was an Argentine entomologist born in 1922, specializing in coleopterology. He served as the head of the Department of Microbiology and Parasitology at the University of Buenos Aires and worked at the National Council of Scientific Research. After retiring, he volunteered at the Instituto de Investigaciones Entomologicas Salta. Martínez authored about 270 scientific publications and was noted for his work with beetles. He died in a car accident during a research expedition in Bolivia in 1993, alongside his wife. In his honor, a genus of wasps was named Antomartinezius.
