Anthony Ryle was an English medical doctor known for his contributions to psychotherapy, particularly cognitive analytic therapy. He studied at Oxford and University College Hospital, qualifying in 1949. His career included working as a General Practitioner, directing the University of Sussex Health service, and serving as a Consultant Psychotherapist at St. Thomas' Hospital. He recognized the psychological distress in patients and developed a time-limited therapy used in the NHS. Ryle lived in East Sussex with his family and passed away on 29 September 2016, survived by his second wife and children.
