Antal Szalay was a Hungarian football player born on March 12, 1912, who excelled as a midfielder. He spent his entire playing career with Ujpest from 1930 to 1940. Szalay represented the Hungarian national team in 24 matches between 1933 and 1939. He participated in the 1934 FIFA World Cup in Italy, reaching the quarter-finals, and also in the 1938 FIFA World Cup in France, where Hungary finished as the runner-up. After his playing career, he became the manager of the UTA Arad club in 1945.
