Born on May 6, 1922, she was the daughter of a minister and had five children. Botha was not prominently featured in the media, although she was recognized by Nelson Mandela for her contributions to organizing events involving widows of apartheid-era leaders. She passed away from a heart attack on June 6, 1997, at the age of 75.
