Ann Purmell is an American children's book author, born in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1953. Her first book, "Apple Cider-Making Days", was published in 2003, followed by "Where Wild Babies Sleep" the same year. Her book "Christmas Tree Farm" won the 2007 Ohio Farm Bureau Federation's Children's Literature Award for its agricultural subject. Her 2008 book "Maple Syrup Season" continued with agricultural themes. Purmell worked as a psychiatric nurse for children after receiving her nursing degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1979. She is married to a dentist and has two children.
