Gunnel Anita Sundman (1942-2010) was a Swedish astronomer and author known for her contributions to the study of stars in the Milky Way. She earned her doctorate in 1974 and worked as a teacher and researcher at Stockholm Observatory. In addition to her scientific work, she published a biography of Knut Lundmark and a popular science book on the universe. An artist, she painted watercolors and taught a course that combined astronomy, art, and science. She left behind two daughters and was in a relationship with fellow science writer Per Ahlin.
