Andy McNab, born Stephen Billy Mitchell on December 28, 1959, in Southwark, England, is an English novelist and former sergeant in the Special Air Service (SAS). He gained prominence in 1993 with the publication of his report on the SAS Bravo Two Zero patrol, for which he was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal in 1991. Earlier, he received the Military Medal for his service with the Green Jackets in Northern Ireland in 1979. Besides Bravo Two Zero, McNab has authored two autobiographies and several fictional works.
