Andrzej Jan Więcek is a Polish physician and a professor of medical sciences, born on November 24, 1955. He specializes in issues related to angiology, hypertension, kidney diseases, and organ transplants. A correspondent member of the Polish Academy of Sciences since 2013, he also serves as the president of its Katowice branch. Więcek is a lecturer and head of the Medical Department at the Silesian Medical University in Katowice, and serves as vice-chairman of the Main Council of Science and Higher Education. He obtained his doctorate in 1983.
