Andrey Antonovich Nemiro was a Soviet astronomer born on March 4, 1909, in Korets, and passed away in 1995 in Saint Petersburg. He graduated from Leningrad University in 1934 and continued his studies at Pulkovo Observatory. Throughout his career at Pulkovo, he made significant contributions to astrometry, including compiling the first Soviet fundamental catalogue of right ascensions. He actively participated in World War II and later served as head of the astronomy department at Leningrad University. He was also the president of the International Astronomical Union's Commission on Positional Astronomy.
