André Labarthe was a French engineer and press figure, born on January 26, 1902, in Paris. He played a significant role during World War II as a member of the Free French Forces and was possibly an agent for Soviet intelligence. He is best known for founding and directing the magazine La France Libre in London from 1940 until the end of 1945. Labarthe was also known for his opposition to General de Gaulle, a prominent leader in France during and after the war.
