Carrillo began his career at Alianza Lima in 2009 before moving to Sporting Lisbon and then to Benfica, where he won multiple titles. He has had loan spells at Watford and Al Hilal. Internationally, Carrillo has over 60 caps for Peru, participating in three Copa America tournaments and the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
