Anders Koustrup Kærgaard (1972-2024) was a Danish captain in the Gardehusarregimentet and a whistleblower. In 2012, he revealed evidence of civilian abuses during the 2004 Green Desert operation in Iraq. He faced legal consequences for protecting a colleague's identity linked to the incident. After serving in the Danish Iraq force, he worked on establishing the Cold War Museum Stevnsfort and co-founded the whistleblower NGO Veron.dk. A recipient of the Menneskerettighedsprisen, Kærgaard has spoken extensively on the significance of whistleblowers, while grappling with PTSD from his experiences.
