Anders Kjær is a Norwegian painter born on August 20, 1940, residing in Krødsherad. He gained attention in 1982 for an exhibition of paintings imitating the aesthetics of pornography. Self-taught, Kjær has studied art history, philosophy, and archaeology. He debuted at the Høstutstillingen in 1966 and had his first solo exhibition at the Kunstnernes Hus in 1968. In the 1990s, he created works inspired by Nordic landscapes, featuring impressions of flowing paint. His art reflects both political engagement and postmodern critiques of imagery, particularly concerning the representation of the female body.
