He served as a soloist for the Mariinsky Theatre orchestra and was an associate professor at the Saint Petersburg State Conservatory. Chepkov was recognized as a Meritorious Artist of the RSFSR, contributing significantly to the field of music in Russia. His work encompassed both performance and teaching, influencing many students and musicians during his lifetime.
