Anas Nafis (January 9, 1932 - April 18, 2007) was a prominent researcher, academic, artist, novelist, cultural figure, and notable personality from West Sumatra. He was the younger brother of writer Ali Akbar Navis. His father, Navis Sutan Marajo, worked for the Dutch colonial railways, which led their family to frequently relocate. During the Japanese occupation, they moved to Duku, and upon his father's imprisonment by the Kempeitai, they eventually settled in Bukittinggi after Indonesia's independence.
