Alwin Bär was a Dutch pianist born in 1941 and passed away in 2000. He began piano studies at the age of 11 under composer Hans Osieck. His education continued under prominent teachers in the Netherlands and abroad. Bär launched his international career in 1962 with a performance of Chopin's first piano concerto and played with various orchestras. He won the Arnold Schönberg Competition in 1975 and recorded works by Mussorgski and Rachmaninoff in his final years.
