Aloma Mariam Mukhtar is a distinguished Nigerian jurist who served as the Chief Justice of Nigeria from July 2012 to November 2014. She made history as the first female Chief Justice in Nigeria. Mukhtar was called to the English Bar in November 1966 and to the Nigerian Bar in 1967. Her appointment was made by President Goodluck Jonathan, who conferred upon her the honorary title of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger. Mukhtar's contributions to the judiciary have had a significant impact on legal practices in Nigeria.
