During World War II, he served as a military nurse at the Bordiot prison in Bourges, where he was noted for his compassion towards prisoners, particularly resistance fighters. His contributions were later honored in Marc Toledano's book and the film 'Le Franciscain de Bourges' by Claude Autant-Lara.
