Allan Alexander Read was an Anglican Bishop who served as the Bishop of Ontario from 1981 until 1992. He was educated at Trinity College in Toronto and was ordained as a Deacon in 1948 and as a Priest in 1949. Over the years, he held various positions including the incumbent at St. John in Mono Mills and Rector of Trinity Church in Barrie. He served as Archdeacon of Simcoe from 1961 to 1972 before being consecrated as Suffragan Bishop of Toronto in 1972, eventually becoming Diocesan Bishop of Ontario.
