Alfred Veltman is a former Dutch politician from the PvdA, born on December 14, 1949, in Leeuwarden. He had various positions in the business world before becoming a Dutch teacher. He served as a city council member in Doetinchem starting in 1978 and became the faction leader in 1990. In 1994, he was appointed alderman for Social Affairs, Employment, Welfare, and Sports. In April 2000, he became the mayor of Someren, a position he held until December 1, 2017, when he was succeeded by Dilia Blok.
