August Mandorfer, born on September 1, 1933, in Kremsmünster, is an Austrian music educator and a convicted criminal. Under the religious name Father Alfons, he was a Benedictine monk at Kremsmünster Abbey and held several positions including Regens Chori, head of the music archive, director of the convent, and high school teacher. He was removed from the convent in 1996 for sexual offenses, but details emerged publicly in 2010. Mandorfer was laicized by Pope Benedict XVI in 2012 and sentenced to twelve years in prison for serious abuse cases on July 3, 2013.
