Alexei Georgiyevich Sotnikov was a prominent Soviet animalist sculptor and a significant ceramic artist of the 20th century. Born on October 3, 1904, in Mikhailovskaya, Kuban Oblast, he became a distinguished artist of the RSFSR in 1978. Sotnikov was also a participant in the Great Patriotic War. He is well-known for designing the emblem 'Sokol' for the Dulevo Porcelain Factory and was a student of V. E. Tatlin.
