Alexandre Ananoff was a French public figure, enthusiast, and promoter of astronautics, born on April 7, 1910, in Tbilisi, Russian Empire, and died on December 25, 1992, in Paris, France. He organized the first International Astronautical Congress at the Sorbonne in Paris in 1950 and authored the renowned book 'Astronautics' in the same year. A pioneer in space education for the general public, he founded the French Astronautics Society in 1955, which later became the Association of Aeronautics and Astronautics of France.
