Alena Munková, born Alena Synková, was a Czech journalist, publicist, screenwriter, and dramaturge. She was born on September 24, 1926, in Prague and passed away on April 14, 2008, also in Prague. Munková was the granddaughter of publisher Adolf Synek and the younger sister of writer František Listopad. Notably, she was one of the last children imprisoned in the Terezín Ghetto during World War II, having survived the Holocaust. Her poems written during her imprisonment from 1942 to 1945 were later set to music.
