Aleksey Vasilyevich Mikheev (1907—1999) was a Soviet zoologist and ornithologist renowned as the founder of ecological ornithology. He earned a Doctor of Biological Sciences degree in 1963 and served as a professor and dean of the Biological and Chemical Faculty at the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute from 1952 to 1956 and again from 1964 to 1968. Additionally, he chaired the Department of Zoology and Darwinism from 1975 to 1983, significantly contributing to the fields of zoology and ornithology through his academic leadership and research.
