Aleksandr Vasilyevich Popov (1919–1941) was a Soviet military pilot who participated in World War II. He was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union in 1941. As a junior lieutenant, on September 3, 1941, he famously rammed a German tank column while flying an I-16 fighter aircraft east of Lake Vepukke in the Kalinin region. His bravery in the face of enemy forces marked him as a notable figure in the history of the Soviet Air Force during the Great Patriotic War.
