Aleksandr Ivanovich Plitchenko was a Russian poet, writer, and editor active in the second half of the 20th century. Born on April 9, 1943, in Chumakovo, Novosibirsk Oblast, he passed away on November 8, 1997, in Novosibirsk. He was known for translating epic literature from Altai and Yakutia, and for his poetic translations from various languages including Turkish, Altai, Yakut, Tuvan, Buryat, Hungarian, Polish, German, and Mongolian. In addition to poetry, he also wrote drama, prose, and journalism, and was a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR and later Russia.
