Ernest Albert George Spanswick (1919-1983) was a British trade unionist who served with the Royal Army Medical Corps during WWII before becoming a State Registered Nurse and Registered Mental Nurse. He joined COHSE, eventually becoming General Secretary in 1974. Spanswick was active in the Trades Union Congress, chairing its Health Services Committee. Known for poor public speaking skills and gaffes, he emerged as a figure during a major pay dispute but passed away suddenly just before his planned retirement.
