Alastair Kenneth Yates (1952-2018) was a notable English news anchor, who spent over 20 years with the BBC, primarily on BBC World News and BBC News. Raised in Burton upon Trent, he had a diverse career, initially working as a circuit DJ and managing an entertainment company. Yates began his broadcasting career in 1973 on Radio Derby and later presented news programs on BBC Midlands. He was a founding presenter of Sky News and contributed to multiple BBC initiatives, including BBC World Service Television and BBC News 24. He returned to radio in 2013.
