al-Tijānī Māḥī (April 1, 1911 - January 8, 1970) was a pioneering psychiatrist and transitional president of Sudan following the October Revolution. He was born in Kwang City in the White Nile State. Notably, he co-founded the African Association of Psychiatry and conducted groundbreaking studies on the connections between magic, healing, and mental health. His research also encompassed ancient African cultures and civilizations, demonstrating his knowledge of hieroglyphics. A mental health hospital in Omdurman is named after him, marking his lasting legacy in psychiatric medicine in Sudan.
