Al-Tayyib Salih was a Sudanese novelist and journalist, regarded as one of the most prominent Arab writers of the 20th century. He gained fame for his novels and short stories, earning the title of 'the genius of Arabic novel' from critics. His notable work, 'Season of Migration to the North' (1966), is considered one of the most important in Arabic literature. His writings have been translated into more than ten languages. Salih lived in Britain, Qatar, and France throughout his life.
