Al Gore is an American politician and environmentalist who served as the 45th Vice President of the United States from 1993 to 2001 under President Bill Clinton. He was the Democratic nominee for the 2000 presidential election, losing to George W. Bush after a contentious vote recount in Florida. Gore spent 24 years in elected office, including eight years in the House of Representatives, the Senate, and as Vice President. He has since founded several organizations focused on climate protection and has received numerous awards, including the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007.
