Albert M. 'Al' Drootin (1916-2016) was an American jazz clarinetist and saxophone player. He was part of the Drootin Brothers Band, which included his brother and son. Drootin played in local Dixieland groups in Boston, then moved to New York, performing with notable musicians like Bud Freeman and Muggsy Spanier. He served in WWII, returned to Boston, and played in jazz clubs. The Drootin Brothers Band played at the Newport Jazz Festival in 1973 and continued performing throughout New England, also leading Lester Lanin's Orchestra in the 1980s and 1990s.
