Al C. Kalmbach (1910–1981) was the founder of Kalmbach Publishing, which publishes magazines and books for hobby enthusiasts, notably in model railroading. He started his publishing career with 'The Model Railroader' in 1934, after initially owning a printing company. He eventually launched 'Trains' in 1940. Kalmbach was passionate about railroads and was influential in promoting model railroading as a hobby. He served as president of the Hobby Industry Association and received honors from the National Model Railroad Association. Kalmbach died from Parkinson's disease.
