Aksel Telgmaa was an Estonian mathematician, teacher, and educator born on February 10, 1932. He graduated from Tallinn Pedagogical Institute in 1956 and earned a candidate degree in pedagogy in 1966 with a dissertation focused on mathematical education. He worked as a physics and mathematics teacher and held research positions at the Estonian SSR Pedagogical Research Institute. Later, he became a professor and head of the mathematics department at Tallinn Pedagogical Institute, eventually becoming an emeritus professor at Tallinn University. He authored several mathematics textbooks.
