Akira Yoshizawa was a Japanese origami artist, regarded as the grandmaster of origami. He transformed origami from a traditional craft into a vibrant art form. By 1989, Yoshizawa claimed to have created over 50,000 models, with hundreds documented in his eighteen books. Throughout his career, he acted as an international cultural ambassador for Japan. In 1983, he was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun by Emperor Hirohito, one of Japan's highest honors.
