Akemi Ōta is a Japanese animator notable for her work at Toei Animation where she met her future husband, director Hayao Miyazaki, in 1964. They married in October 1966 and had two sons in January 1967 and April 1969. Akemi is recognized for her exceptional animation skills and was admired for her outstanding drawings. A long-time friend of Miyazaki noted that she was even more promising than him at the time, making significant contributions to the animation industry, especially during her tenure at Toei Animation.
