Akaki Gelovani was a Georgian writer and translator born on March 28, 1923, in Lalkhorali, Georgian SSR. He graduated from the Philology Faculty of Tbilisi University and published his first book, a translation of Heinrich Heine's 'Selected Lyrics', in 1954. Gelovani's works include poems, novels, and stories, such as 'Ashes of Glory' and 'The Heart of Chopin'. He also translated the works of notable authors like Goethe and Ibsen. His personal archive is preserved at the National Center of Manuscripts, donated by his descendants in February 2009.
